Washington: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India and the US are keen to work together and benefit from each other’s experiences. He made this remark after visiting a top US Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) in Maryland.

Rajnath on a four-day visit to America

Rajnath Singh is on a four-day visit to the US to further strengthen the comprehensive global strategic partnership between the US and India. He said in a post on ‘X’, ‘Visited the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Carderac and saw important experiments being done at this center.’ He also said, ‘India and America are keen to work together and benefit from each other’s experiences.’

Met Lloyd Austin

Earlier during the visit, Rajnath met US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan and Defense Minister Lloyd Austin. Austin praised the progress being made in US-India relations during the meeting with Rajnath. He noted the growing cooperation between the two countries on various defense-related issues, including efforts to strengthen critical supply chains between the armies.

Our defense cooperation is getting stronger

Austin said, “We share the vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region and our defense cooperation is constantly getting stronger. We are expanding our defense industry relations and working on co-production and strengthening supply chains.” He said that the two countries have increased operational cooperation in all areas, as well as highlighted India’s participation in the ‘Rim of the Pacific’, a US Navy-led exercise in Hawaii in which 29 countries participated.

Global trade was protected

Austin said, “Indian sailors have helped the Navy in crisis and protected global trade. So we are committed to strengthening naval cooperation and working more together with unmanned technology.”

Rajnath said that the growing cooperation includes all areas of human endeavor. The Defence Minister also spoke to the top leadership of US defence companies at a conference. During this, he highlighted that partnership and joint efforts are two words that describe India’s defence industry partnership with other countries.
